7. Proponent Background

In 1997 when the Kier Gallery was first formed it immediately began to contribute to the cultural sectors within the Charlottetown cultural community.

The Keir Gallery has collaborated to enhance Victoria Row and has position itself well within the current cultural sector and an active member representing the cultural community providing leadership and a creative venue to thousands of Artists both on and off of Prince Edward Island..

Today the Kier Gallery and Brennan's Stage has become a hub for emerging artists in music, film, performing artists, painters, writers, and content creators.

All of our marketing research indicates that the Kier Gallery needs to rethink the way it operates to survive in the current market place which is becoming dominated by three or four corporations.

If the the Kier Gallery is to continue to offer the artist in the community it's unique brand of service than it must rethink it's model of operation.

The Kier Gallery is in a position itself to become a manager of cultural events and festivals and street performances. These funding opportunities are available and the city has identified a need to offer more of these services to Charlottetown's landscapes and historical spaces.

The Gallery is in the perfect position to take advantage of the Same funding that is available
to cultural sector businesses in Charlottetown.
